Day 99: 5K Race!

Today is Father's Day and the Run 4 Your Life 5K to benefit a local prostate and breast cancer charity. It was rainy and the race started at 8:30am, so my parents, Robin and Emily M all bailed on racing with me. Luckily, I connected with Kristen, a fellow Philly Knottie and we met up and ran together which was a lot of fun.

Overall, the race went really well - the course was fairly flat and I was feeling great and I finished in 27 minutes and 20 seconds, which is a full 2+ minutes faster than my last 5K!! Though I didn't manage to stay with Kristen the entire time, she came in less than a minute after me and then we had some bananas and soft pretzels together before heading home.

I am really proud of myself for increasing my running time and really appreciative that Scott came out to support me in the rain when everyone else bailed on me. I am also really thankful that I got to meet Kristen and Tom because they were both awesome and hopefully Kristen and I will begin running together on Sundays from now on!

SO all in all, it was a very great day and I am feeling good :o)

Day 98: Chest and Back X, Ab Ripper X

I woke up early today to get my work out in and was really not feeling in the mood to work out since it was dreary and raining outside - BUT of course, I did it anyway! I was not in the mood to do ARX so I did a 20 minute ab video from On Demand to switch things up a bit before starting on chest/back and it was actually pretty challenging. Then for Chest and Back, I pushed myself hard, despite feeling tired and got in a great work out. I am continuing to use the pull up bar for modified pull ups and I definitely feel as though I am really improving my ability to strengthen my back that way. 470 calories and an hour and 20 minutes later and it is time to go and enjoy my Saturday!

Day 97: Kenpo X

Since I ended up making Wednesday of this week my rest day, today is Kenpo X. I am going to the Phillies game tonight which means I had to wake up at 5:45am to get the work out done and even with feeling sleepy and Scott trying to convince me to get back in bed, I still got up and brought it! I used weights, repeated sections as usual and I was tempted to go for a short run too but I resisted because I need to rest my legs for Sunday's race.

I burnt 483 calories after a great work out and now I am ready to start my day. GO PHILLIES!

Day 96: Core Synergistics/Short Run

After lots of running this week and a 5K coming up on Sunday, I have decided that doing Legs/Back X today is not a good idea since I don't want my leg muscles to be sore for the race. I did Core Synergistics instead since this is a great work out and focuses on the core which is a weak area for me. I am starting to hate this work out a little bit less since it now does not COMPLETELY kick my ass.

After Core I went for a short run around the neighborhood and ended up burning 528 calories total. I was pretty exhausted by the end of this work out but still feeling good! I also got 2 new pairs of work out shorts at Kohls for a great price so at least now I have some shorts that are not hanging off of me while I work out!

Wednesday, June 17, 2009

Day 95: REST

Wow, my entire body is sore today. My arms are still sore from Monday's work out and my legs are sore from yesterday's run. SO for the first time pretty much ever, I am actually going to listen to my body and rest today. I will just have to skip my rest day on Friday and go for a run in the morning before work since we are going to the Phillies game at night. Rest days are boring but I don't want to overtrain and then not be able to keep up with my running.

Tuesday, June 16, 2009

Day 94: Run, Baby Run!

In place of Yoga today I went for another run, but this time around Manayunk. I ran 5.7 miles in 60 minutes and I felt great afterwards. I wore my knee brace this time which definitely helped a lot and having my new iPod Shuffle with me instead of that gigantic iPod was also very helpful. I think I am going to be in good shape for the 5K race this weekend!

Also, I should probably mention that my arns are VERY sore today from the arm work out yesterday - especially my bis and tris. I guess it was beneficial to increase my reps so much!

Monday, June 15, 2009

Day 93: Shoulder, Triceps and Biceps, Ab Ripper X

I was a little limited today while doing ARX because my hip was sore and the hip rock and raises were irritating it so I added in some extra planks. I have to admit, I am getting a little bored with ARX and my start switching up some of the moves or adding in extras.

Shoulders, Tris and Bis continued to be as challenging as ever though! I used the 10 pound weights for pretty much every exercise, since I want to continue to tone but not get too much more muscular. I did a lot of reps with the 10 pounds though so I have a feeling that tomorrow is going to hurt!

Sunday, June 14, 2009

Day 92: Long Run

As I mentioned before, I am going to be modifying the cardio days of the program to incorporate running and Sundays will be the day of my long run each week in place of Plyo (I will move plyo to later in the week). I went for a 6.5 mile run all around Upper Dublin and OH MAN was I tired afterwards. I think 6.5 was probably a little too much for me because after I got home from my nephews party I felt extremely fatigued and took a very long nap. Also, my right knee is sore and so is my left hip, so I might have been a tad ambitious on this run. Next Sunday I will be running a 5K so I will give my body plenty of time to rest before attempting another long run like today.

Also, I should note that I am SUPER sore from modified pull ups yesterday! I guess this means that even with using my legs to help, I am still getting a good back work out!

Saturday, June 13, 2009

Day 91: Chest and Back X, Ab Ripper X

Well, after a few days of rest I have decided to jump in to ROUND 2!! This time though I am going to be a little more flexible and make some modifications in order to incorporate running into my work outs since I am toying with the idea of running a half marathon in September.

Today was Chest and Back and I decided that I am going to stop using the bands and start using the pull up bar this round, even if I have to significantly modify. While I was doing the work out I wasn't sure if my legs were doing too much of the work on the pull ups for my back to feel it, but by the end I was already sore so I am guessing I got in a good work out.

I had some excess energy after the work out too and felt sooo good to get back in the swing of things after taking a break so I also went for a run for about 25 minutes.

I ended up burning 725 calories today which means I better get started on eating or I am going to have a huge caloric deficit for the day!

Tuesday, June 9, 2009

Day 90: Yoga X

I sprung out of bed to do my very last work out at 5:30am and as of right now I AM OFFICIALLY A P90X GRADUATE! Tomorrow I will post pictures and my thoughts about the whole experience!

Monday, June 8, 2009

Day 89: Core Synergistics

UGH this work out is so tough! I was really dreading it because it just totally kicks my butt and it was no easier for me today than it was the first time I did it this week. I was able to keep up pretty well, despite sweating like a pig and feeling like I might die! At the end of the work out I did muster enough energy to go for a 20 minute run and I burnt 623 calories - wahoo! I worked out for a full 90 minutes doing intense cardio and I feel like I am in great cardiovascular shape at this point.

Only 1 more work out left until I am a graduate!!

Sunday, June 7, 2009

Day 88: Rest/Stretch

Today is rest/stretch day and I was planning on getting up to go for a run but that just didn't happen. I definitely didn't rest either since I spent the day drinking and eating cake for dinner. OOOPS! Well, we all have days where we get off track...I just wish mine wasn't so close to the end of the program where I am going to take pictures with my shirt off!

Saturday, June 6, 2009

Day 87: Kenpo X

I finally let myself sleep in today and woke up to find out that the weather was gorgeous. I quickly got dressed in my work out gear and went for a 20 minute run before starting Kenpo X and then I still repeated a section and used 3 pound weights for most moves! I was a total animal today! In all I burnt 723 calories and since I am going out to dinner and for drinks later, I am sure I will be using up most of those calories quickly.

Friday, June 5, 2009

Day 86: Core Synergistics

Today is Scott's 26th birthday which means that tonight will be filled with birthday stuff leaving me no time to work out. SO I had to wake up at 5:45am again to get my work out in. I always thought I was a morning person, but when that alarm goes off I am really nto interested in waking up a working out.

Core Synergistics is still the hardest work out for me and really gets my heart rate up. I kind of hate it but only because I am not that good at it. I did notice that I could use heavier weights for the exercises that require them but I still felt frustrated that I couldn't do the walking push ups without stopping once and same with the plank runs (didn't even attempt chatarunga run). In the hour that I worked out I burnt 423 calories and had a tough time picking myself up off the floor to get ready for work!

I think for next round I am going to alternate subbing Core and running on yoga days since I definitely want a stronger core and it is hard to conquer this work out when you only do it 6 times total during the 90 days.

Thursday, June 4, 2009

Day 85: Yoga X

Oh Yoga, I just can't seem to like it. A long exercise routine that does not burn a lot of calories just doesn't appeal to me no matter how hard I try. I got home pretty late last night from work so I really had a tough time squeezing this in, but I am so close to the end and I wanted to finish strong. In the end I burnt 200 calories and managed to work up a light sweat before eating dinner and starting to take care of the massive amount of errands I have to do!

Wednesday, June 3, 2009

Day 84: Kenpo X

I woke up at 5:30 this morning, mainly because that was when Scott was actually getting in bed for the night(?) so I decided to just drag my ass out of bed and get started on Kenpo. Kenpo has gotten a bit easy for me throughout the program so I have been modifying to increase the intensity. Today I used 3 pound weights for the punching exercises, repeated a section, added in some plyo moves too and ended up burnign 563 calories - wahoo! This concludes week 12 and now on to recovery week!

Tuesday, June 2, 2009

Day 83: Legs and Back X, Ab Ripper X

Today is the very last weight training day of my first round of P90X and unfortunately I was not feeling great. I have been having stomach problems all day and so I just was not feeling 100%. I pushed through anyway despite feeling crappy and I got in a good work out. I used 10 and 12 pounds for every exercise and was able to increase my reps of lat pull downs with the blue band. I definitely feel like I have made a lot of progress since my first few times doing this work out and my legs are SO much stronger and more muscular than they were when I started. Overall I burnt 463 calories and now it is time for some Muscle Milk Light and dinner!

Monday, June 1, 2009

Day 82: Yoga X

Since I pushed my work outs back a day by taking my rest day early, today was Yoga X. I still really dread this work out and just find it too slow and boring for my taste. I am dedicated to sticking with the program religiously during these first 90 days though so I sucked it up and did it anyway! I did all of the moving poses, then some stretching while I talked on the phone to my dad, completed yoga belly 7 and then finished up with about 20 minutes of Cardio X to burn some extra calories. In all, I burnt 356 calories and I am happy that I got yoga over with for today - too bad I have to do it two times next week during recovery!

Sunday, May 31, 2009

Day 81: Rest/Stretch

I was not able to get a work out in today since it was the day of our engagement party. We had an amazing brunch with all of our best friends and family there to celebrate with us and then we headed back to Scott's mom's house to open gifts and spend more time with our families. We didn't get home until late and I was so tired so there was just no way that I was going to be able to get Yoga in today.

I am going to use today as my rest day and do Yoga X tomorrow instead so that I can finish strong without missing a single work out! Only 9 days left....

Saturday, May 30, 2009

Day 80: Back and Biceps

Another early morning work out during my vacation - what was I thinking?! I have a hair appointment since my engagement party is tomorrow and I don't want to get all sweaty once my hair is looking nice.

I used 12 pounds for more of the bicep exercises than I did last week and I used 10 pounds for almost everything else. I love feeling stronger and stronger each week and I am pretty sure that I am going to be very sore tomorrow!

Friday, May 29, 2009

Day 79: Plyometrics

I saved Plyometrics for the end of the day today and so I was worried that I was not going to have enough energy to really bring it like I have the past few weeks. That was not a problem though today and was I got started I got a second wind. I repeated some of the sections, but not all this time since it was already late and I was concerned about burning too many calories and then having to eat all of them before bed. I still ended up burning 540 calories and so I better go eat before I totally crash!

This is my last time doing plyometrics this round and I am sad because it is by far my favorite work out! I have already decided that I am doing another round anyway so I guess I shouldn't be too sad :)

Thursday, May 28, 2009

Day 78: Chest, Shoulders, Tris, ARX

I think this is the hardest work out of the weight lifting routines. Scott and I have our engagement photos today and I have a hair and a make up trial today too so I had to get up really early to knock out this work out. Despite the early hour, I was still able to get in a very tough work out and I used 10 pounds for almost all of the tricep moves. The push ups in this work out are still the hardest for me and I did regular push ups during the one arm variety because I keep feeling like my arm is just gonna pop out of the socket when I do those!

In all, I burnt 500 calories during this work out and I am feeling wiped out so making it through this very long day should be interesting...

Wednesday, May 27, 2009

Day 77: Rest/Stretch X

No stretching for me today. I am on vacation this week and I am off to spend the day relaxing!

Tuesday, May 26, 2009

Day 76: Legs and Back X, Ab Ripper X

Today was the first day of my 4 day vacation from work and it was so nice to have the whole day to take care of stuff and take my time on my work out. I am glad that I waited until today to do Legs and Back X because my legs really needed that extra day to heal and it allowed me to push myself during this work out since I was back to 100% after the race.

I continued with my modified Ab Ripper X - listening to music instead of the video, adding in extra reps and doing planks instead of leg climbers. It took my about 20 minutes and I burnt over 100 calories during this portion of my work out alone! Then during legs and back I used 10's and 12 pounders for almost all of the moves and got a low as I could in my squats and lunges. Even though this is the only weight training work out that you do every week on the program, I still feel like I am getting a great work out and my legs were like jell-o afterwards! I burnt 522 calories total during my work out and now I need to go drink my muscle milk and eat some dinner!

Monday, May 25, 2009

Day 75: Kenpo X

Today should be Legs and Back X but I switched it with Kenpo to give my legs a rest. I really kicked ass in Kenpo today and did an extended version where I repeated several of the sections to increase the length and intensity. I pushed myself to my limit and was so tired afterwards that I got back in bed and went to sleep for another hour and half haha! I burnt 622 calories during my crazy Kenpo X work out and I feel great! I am almost done the program and it is such a good feeling to see how far I have come.

Day 74: Yoga X

Today was a very exciting day for me - I ran my first 5K this morning with my fabulous future sister in law Robin. Once again I had to wake up at the crack of dawn (6:00am) since the race started at 8:30am. The event was great and run well and since all proceeds benefit ovarian cancer research and survivors, it definitely was all for a good cause.

Since this was my very first 5K and I have not run outside in a very long time, I was not sure how I was going to do and how to pace myself but let me just say - I kicked ass! Robin and I stayed together until the very last mile when she had a pain in her shoulder and needed to walk, but I kept going and ran hard all the way through to the end. Once I was about 100 yards from the finish line I sprinted as fast as I could and I finished in 29 minutes and 30 seconds! I am so proud of myself for how well I did and for finishing in under 30 minutes and Robin did amazing too, finishing in 31 minutes. During the run I burnt 314 calories and I came home ate brunch and then took a long nap so I could be ready for Yoga X since I refuse to miss a work out!

Yoga X went well, though there were some issues with the DVD and had to pause for a second to sort that out. It was a good work out to follow up my run since I got to stretch out, but my achilles tendon on my left foot is sore - OUCH! I am going to ice it and hopefully it will go away.

Saturday, May 23, 2009

Day 73: Arms and Shoulders X, Ab Ripper X

Today was another very early morning work out! I had to leave for a B'Nai Mitzvah in New Jersey at 7:30am, so I woke up at 5:15am to get in my P90Xing since I knew I would be gone for the entire day. Despite the time on the clock, I still got in a great work out, pushed myself hard and burnt 400 calories in the process. I used 10 pounds for all of the shoulder exercises and for most of the triceps too and I may be able to start using 12 pounds of my shoulders next round!

Now that my arms are getting stronger, I think this may be my new favorite work out!

Friday, May 22, 2009

Day 72: Plyometrics

Waking up at 5:50am on a Friday morning right before a holiday weekend and my week of vacation was not easy this morning, but I did it! Plyometrics is hard but I pushed myself to the max and repeated every single set 3 times instead of twice and did 2 minutes of football heros instead of 1. 600 calories burnt and a muscle milk light and now I am off to work. I am going to be SO tired tonight!

Also, I should mention that my chest and back as SO SO SO sore today! Eeek!

Thursday, May 21, 2009

Day 71: Chest and Back X, Ab Ripper X

I got a late start on my work out tonight and didn't finish until almost 9:00pm, but that did not stop me from really giving it my all. I paid a lot of attention to my form for the various push ups and sat farther back for lat pull downs with the blue band. I burnt 450 calories and I am pretty sure that I am going to be veeeery sore tomorrow.

This is my last time doing Chest and Back X during this round of P90X. I will probably do another round though so I guess I shouldn't say goodbye just yet!

Wednesday, May 20, 2009

Day 70: Rest/Stretch

Well, today is the end of week 10 - only 3 more weeks to go!! This rest day could not come at a better time since my foot is hurting and begging for some rest. I will ice it tonight and hopefully I will be ok for plyo on Friday.

Tuesday, May 19, 2009

Day 69: Legs and Back, Ab Ripper X

After a long day and a sore foot, I was not really feeling ready to get started on my work out today but I pushed through and did it anyway. After really pushing myself through ARX, I had already burnt 100 calories and was determined to get in a good work out for my legs. I bought a gel pad to put in my shoe to give my extra cushion where my foot has been hurting, but I still had to modify the sneaky lunges because it was painful to put so much pressure on my right foot.

During the work out I burnt a total of 473 calories and then I kind of pigged out afterwards...OOPS. I need to get my diet more under control in the evenings when I seem to be the most likely to shove my face.

Day 68: Kenpo X

This week I am switching Kenpo X and Legs and Back X because my legs are sore from running and I want to give them another day of rest before working out those muscles again. I really brought it during Kenpo, did extra reps, used weights and repeated on portion of the work out and I ended up burning 453 calories. Considering I started the work out so late because I went to the grocer store after work, I was proud of myself for still giving the work out my all.

Unforuntately, now that I am done the work out, I am experiencing some more pain in the ball of my left foot again. This time it is worse than it was before and I am having trouble walking on it. I am going to ice it and pray that it makes the pain go away because I am so close to the end and really not willing to stop at this point.

Sunday, May 17, 2009

Day 67: Yoga X

I did Yoga X this morning by playing it off of my lap top and doing it on floor of my hotel room with no yoga mat or yoga block, so that definitely was a challenge. I am VERY proud of myself though for not using my surroundings as an excuse and pushign through anyway. I did all of the moving postures, some stretching and then yoga belly 7 and then I headed down to the hotel's gym for a 30 minute run. I felt great during yoga and during my run, though I am a little sore from running yesterday since it has been a while. I think during round 2 of P90X I will try to incorporate running into my routine a bit because I do like it.

No HRM again so I have no clue how many calories I burnt, which is frustrating and making it difficult to make sure my caloric deficit is correct. I went so long without a HRM, how did I do that??

Saturday, May 16, 2009

Day 66: Back and Biceps, ARX

I woke up super early today to get in Back and Biceps before leaving for Virginia with my parents. I used my 12 pound weights more than last weeks bicep exercises and barely had to drop down to 8 pounds at all. For both types of lawnmowers I was also using 12 pounds and it is so exciting to see myself getting stronger. I burnt 450 calories during my work out, 100 of which I burnt during ARX alone!

After sitting in the car with my parents all day and feeling ansy, I went to the gym at our hotel in Virginia and ran for 40 minutes. I haven't run since starting P90x and it was great to see that I am still able to run for as long as I was before. I didn't bring my HRM so I don't know how many calories I burnt during my run but I am guestimating around 350.

Friday, May 15, 2009

Day 65: Plyometrics

Ahh the Friday night work out...for some reason when I work out on Friday nights after a long week, I actually push myself as hard as I possibly can. For plyometrics today, instead of repeating each set of exercises twice, I repeated each set 3 times (except for the last 1 with Hot Foot because I just plain old ran out of steam).

After 1 hour and 20 minutes of plyo I was sweaty and tired and I burnt 600 calories so I got to really eat well that night! I am off to Virginia tomorrow to see my sister-in-law Isabel in a play so I will be doing my work out tomorrow before I leave and then bringing my computer and DVDs with me for Sundays work out.

Thursday, May 14, 2009

Day 64: Chest, Shoulders, Triceps X, Ab Ripper X

Today I reeeally brought it! I pushed myself hard during ARX first and did increased reps for pretty much every move and burned 100 calories during that portion of my work out alone! I also gave my all to the work out and did each move to my max and burned 516 calories total today. WAHOO! I can already tell that my triceps are going to be very, very sore tomorrow since I can barely lift my arms tonight.

Wednesday, May 13, 2009

Day 63: Rest/Stretch X

Today I am definitely not going to be stretching - instead I am going out to dinner with Scott to celebrate the completion of his first year of law school. Hooray for having my fiance back for the summer!

Tuesday, May 12, 2009

Day 62: Kenpo X

I woke up at 6:00am this morning to do Kenpo X before work since I have to get fitted for my engagement party dress tonight. I had a hard time getting out of bed, but once I did I really pushed myself and was sweating like crazy. I repeated the same segment as I did last time and used 3 pound weights whenever I could and I burnt 463 calories.

As of yesterday, I am officially switching from Weight Watchers to tracking calories via the Daily Plate. After plugging in my 19 points plus my 4.5 activity points from yesterday, it came to a net caloric intake in the low 800's. That is just not enough for how hard I am working my body and I have a feeling this is why my body is holding on to fat for dear life. The Daily Plate allows you to really see the kind of caloric deficit you are creating and helps to monitor your fat, carbs and protein intake too. I am going to try TDP out for a week and see how it goes! Hopefully it doesn't make me get fatter before the e-party!

Monday, May 11, 2009

Day 61: Legs and Back, Ab Ripper X

As usual, Legs and Back X was a great work out and I am sure that I will be feeling it tomorrow! I did ARX first, with music and adding more reps where I could, and I burned about 80 calories during those 20 minutes alone! Then I jumped right into Legs and Back X and really pushed myself, even though I wasn't feeling 100%. I used the 12 pound weights for calf raises this time to challenge myself and I had no problem there. It is great to see how much I can increase my weight on each of these work outs!

Overall I burnt 450 calories and I am pretty sure that this is still my favorite work out (even though I hate wall squates).

Sunday, May 10, 2009

Day 60: Yoga X

As of today, I am officially 2/3 of the way done my first round of P90x - hooray! I had Scott take pictures of me this morning before my work out, and I will get them posted in a day or so, but I am feeling pretty disappointed with the changes in my stomach since I don't really see a difference there at all. My arms definitely look more toned, but I wish my stomach had less fat covering the muscles that I am working hard to build.

Today I did Cardio X again followed by the moving postures of Yoga X and yoga belly 7. I worked out for an hour and a half, but like this combo to up the intensity a bit. I burnt 500 calories in 1.5 hours, which is good since I am going to 2 bbqs today for Mother's Day and am going to give myself today as a cheat day to reward myself for making it this far in P90X.

Saturday, May 9, 2009

Day 59: Shoulders and Arms, Ab Ripper X

Woke up bright and early to get started on this work out and I was excited to use my brand new 12 pound weights for bicep exercises. I was doing most shoulder exercises with 10 pounds which I was excited about and used 8 pounds for triceps. The 12 pounders were definitely tough for me and after about 6 reps I had to down grade to the 10 pounds, but it still felt good to be able to use them, especially since I started with 8 pounds for biceps the first several times I did this work out.

I listened to music and did ARX without the video again - I find that it really allows me to push myself better this way and it makes it a little more fun too! Now I just need to keep my iTunes filled with good music and I will be ready to go.

Friday, May 8, 2009

Day 58: Plyometrics

After a long week, I was feeling a little tired before getting started but I really brought it anyway. I kept up well, paused a few times in order to keep my heart rate in the zone, and burned 500 calories by the time I finished. This work out is hard and not getting much easier no matter how many times I do it, but still one of my favorites!

Thursday, May 7, 2009

Day 57: Chest and Back X, Ab Ripper X

Welcome to phase 3! It has been about a week since doing ARX and over a month since doing Chest and Back X so I was ready to bring it today. For ARX, I still did it without the video so I could add in extra reps and I played music while I worked out which made it more enjoyable for me - I will definitely continue to do that throughout the third phase.

For Chest and Back X, I have to say I was EXTREMELY proud of myself today. When I first started the work out, this was the very first video I did - I was using the purple band for modified pull ups (which is the easiest one) and could do MAYBE 8 girlie push ups if I really pushed myself. Today I was able to use the blue and hardest band for modified pull ups and for the push up series I started out doing about 5 regular push ups before going to my knees to do 15 more. I really am so proud of how far I have come in the past 2 months and this work out really showed me how much stronger I am then when I started. I can barely contain my excitement :o)

Also, I know it is lame but I ordered a P90X t-shirt today from the Beachbody website - I hope it fits!

Wednesday, May 6, 2009

Day 56: Rest/Stretch X

I have to admit, I did not stretch at all today...I just kind of forgot and I had some errands to run. I am having some pain the ball of my left foot but I am chosing to ignore it. I am reeeeeally looking forward to getting started on phase 3 tomorrow - this rest week was super boring for me.

Tuesday, May 5, 2009

Day 55: Yoga X

I had a horrible day today and just didn't feel ready to be calm and do yoga, so I started my work out with Cardio X to get out some of the frustration. After Cardio X I did the moving postures of Yoga X, bridge, table, yoga belly 7 and then some stretching of my own. I actually liked the combination of cardio and yoga and may try it in the upcoming weeks when I feel up to it. I burned 485 calories in 1 hour and a half and I felt a lot more relaxed after my work out.

One more rest day and on to phase 3! I will be taking pictures in just a few days and am looking forward to seeing the difference. I know my arms are a lot stronger than before but I still have some body fat that I am dying to get rid of.

Day 54: Rest/Stretch X

As I mentioned yesterday, I switched out my rest day so that I would not have to work out today. Today was a very, very sad day since I had to attend the funeral of Scott's cousin who was tragically killed by a courier on the street in NYC. Working out was the last thing on my mind and I didn't eat very well either, but today was about family and remembering someone that was taken from the world much too soon. I will be back to my work outs tomorrow and I am looking forward to it.

Day 53: Core Synergistics

Today was supposed to be the first of two rest days during recovery week, but since I will not be able to work out tomorrow I am switching todays rest day for tomorrows work out. Core was very hard for me again, but not quite as hard as last time. I paused the DVD a few times to keep my heart rate in my zone and this is really the only work out that I have had to do that in. I burned about 450 calories and I'm pretty glad that I got it over with!

Day 52: Kenpo X

I woke up early again on a Saturday to get my work out in, since our brand new cleaning lady is coming today and I wanted to be done before she got here at 10:00am. I repeated one whole section like I did last time and jogged in place during a quick phone call to keep my heart rate up. I used m 3 pounders again for a lot of the punching moves and my shoulders were definitely burning at several parts throughout the work out! I burnt 456 calories, which I am going to need because we are celebrating my brother's birthday tonight by ordering in some pizza/

Day 51: Core Synergistics

I was dreading this work out all week since last time it was so hard for me and it was just as hard this time! I felt like I might fall over or puke or both at a couple of points in this exercise, but I just paused it, brought my heart rate down and went right back at it. I am proud of myself for completing it and doing real push ups, instead of the girlie kind throughout the work out (except for staggered hand/stacked feet).

I burnt 434 calories and now I am officially exhausted. Best of all, I get to do this twice this week - oh boy, I can't wait!

Day 50: Yoga X

Today is the start of Week 8 and my second recovery week. I am not a fan of recovery week and doing yoga during the week is hassle since it is so long, but I sucked it up and did it anyway. I added in a bit of cardio before starting and some during the warrior three series and I burned 400 calories. I still don't love yoga, but it really isn't that bad.

I am dreading Core Synergistics tomorrow...that work out is so hard!

Day 49: Rest/Stretch

I am happy that rest day is here but not looking forward to moving into my second recovery week. I think recovery is boring but I will do it anyway to stay on the program. I really hated core synergistics during the recovery week, hopefully it won't be so freaking hard for me this time! I doubt I will do Stretch X tonight but I will probably just do some of my own stretching, espcially for my sore glutes.

Tuesday, April 28, 2009

Day 48: Kenpo X

I was having a very bad day before starting this work and it only made me push myself harder. I used my 3 pound weights for most of the punching series and for the elbows and I repeated 1 entire section of the work out to increase the length and intensity. I would up burning 488 calories and I felt 10000 times better after my work out...it is amazing how working out can change my mood for the better in just an hour!

Day 47: Legs and Back, Ab Ripper X

So today before my work out I was feeling great and ARX went smoothly (did it without the DVD again and still prefer this) but once I started Legs and Back my right glute started really hurting. I paused the DVD and stretched it out but had to nurse it a bit during the routine. I still really pushed myself and completed the entire work out, but this stupid glute is so tight and just bothering me a lot during squats and lunges.

I burnt 446 calories and my weekly summary, according to my HRM, was 7 hours and 20 minutes of working out during 6 work outs for a total of 2,676 calories burnt. WOW! Recovery week is just one work out away and then on to the final phase.

For now I am going to ice my butt and hope that it gets better asap.

Day 46: Yoga X

I woke up bright and early for a Sunday to get this work out in and I am glad that I did.  I was dreading it a bit for some reason this morning (maybe just because it was 8:15am and I wanted to sleep) but once I got started I realized it was just what I needed.  I really focused on my stretching, especially in my right hip/glute because I have been feeling especially tight recently, and it felt very good.

During the Warrior 3 series I actually added in about 10 minutes of my own cardio just to burn some extra calories and I ended up burning about 350 calories during this work out.  I still prefer higher impact work outs but I do see why yoga is important, especially the stretching and balance aspects.

Day 45: Back and Biceps, Ab Ripper X

I did Ab Ripper today from memory without the video and I think I am going to keep that up.  I just have seen that part of the DVD so many times that I am a little sick of it, plus on my own I can add some extra reps to increase the intensity.

For Back and Biceps I really pushed myself and I actually think I am ready to move up to 12 pounds!  I think I will pick them up before starting phase 3.  My biceps definitely look good and the blue band is really more managable for back exercises than it was when I started.

Immediately after my work out I had to go to the doctor and they drew blood, which was probably not good post-work out.  I am not feeling great right now so I think I am going to go lay down for a bit and hope that it helps!

I am officially halfway through P90x and I am so proud of myself for how far I have come.  I have not skipped a single work out and besides ocassionally adding extra sets to up my intesity I have stuck to the program religiously.  I have come really far in these first 45 days and I can't wait to see those end results.

Friday, April 24, 2009

Day 44: Plyometrics

Friday afternoons are usually tough for me to get started on my work out and today was no exception.  Once I got started though I was jumping around and sweating like crazy.  I ended up repeated on segment to burn some extra calories and finished with a total of 515 calories burned according to my HRM.  Now I get to eat a big dinner - hooray!

Thursday, April 23, 2009

Day 43: Chest/Shoulders/Triceps and Ab Ripper X

So today was the start of week 7 and I was looking forward to this work out because my rest day was boring. Scott was hogging the tv and trying to beat his video game so I did Ab Ripper X first, without the video and just from memory, and I actually liked it better that way. I did more than 25 reps on some of the moves, picked up the pace a bit and really pushed myself. I have a bad memory, but I did that work out so many times already that I knew every move by heart.

For Chest/Shoulders/Tris I really brought it. I did as many push ups as I possibly could but I still really can't do the one arm push ups without my shoulder feeling like it is going to pop out of the socket so instead I did regular push ups and then some jumping jacks. I think I got a great work out today and I am guessing that I am going to be pretty sore tomorrow!

Time for some Muscle Milk Light and The Office/30 Rock

Wednesday, April 22, 2009

Day 42: Rest/Stretch

Today is the end of week 6 and 1.5 weeks of working out every day because I had to shift my reset day to the beginning of week 5, instead of the end. I definitely had some issues this week between my shoulder and elbow clicking and now some lower back pain, so I am really going to stretch it out today and hopefully will be up and ready to go tomorrow for week 7.

I am just a few days from being halfway done and I am considering whether or not to take day 45 pics and measurements so I can see my progress at this point...we shall see.

Tuesday, April 21, 2009

Day 41: Kenpo X

Today was Kenpo and I used my 3 pound weights again for many of the punching moves to up the intensity and I repeated one of the segments as well to really push myself and burn more calories. I probably should have just stuck with the program but I was feeling energetic and wanted to get the most out of my work out as possible. I burnt 468 calories and now I am ready for my Muscle Milk Light. It's funny because I actually love MM and feel like it is a milkshake/treat so I look forward to one every day after my work out.

My lower back is still bothering me a little bit so tomorrow's rest day will be much appreciated by my body!

Monday, April 20, 2009

Day 40: Legs and Back, Ab Ripper X

It is a gross and rainy Monday so I was dragging all day long. For some reason though as soon as I pressed play I just gave the work out a ton of intensity. I am a little sick of Ab Ripper X since we do it 3 days per week so I do it before my workouts to get it over with. I still love legs and back though and I am sure I am going to feel sore tomorrow. At this point my legs are really toned and muscular so I am happy with how they look, but I figure there is always room for improvement, right?

I burnt 458 calories and my lower back was bothering me a little bit at the end of the work out. Since I didn't have a rest day last week because of the game, I think my body is just dying for a break. Only one more work out until rest/stretch. I think I will actually stretch on Wednesday to help my body out since it is hating me a little in week 6.

Sunday, April 19, 2009

Day 39: Yoga X

Even though I got plenty of sleep last night, I was still having a tough time dragging my butt out of bed to get started on the work out. I did the moving poses and then paused the DVD and did about 10 minutes of cardio to burn some extra calories because I pigged out this week. I did skip some of the stretching exercises due to lack of time, because we have people coming over this afternoon and I need to clean up the apartment. Still, I got a good work out in, burnt 418 calories and am ready to get started on the long list of chores that are awaiting me.

Today was my weight watchers weigh-in day and I gained ANOTHER pound - that is 2 pounds in 2 weeks and I am very upset since I have been working my butt off and eating right 99% of the time. Scott thinks it is from muscle growth and just my body adjusting to my increased protein intake. Whatever the reason, I know it is just a number but it is still upsetting because I want to see a change in the scale that reflects my hard work!

Saturday, April 18, 2009

Day 38: Back and Biceps, Ab Ripper X

Well, I woke up at 8:45am on a Saturday, jumped out of bed and got started first thing in the morning. I used the blue band again for the back exercises and I am definitely going to be feeling it tomorrow. For biceps, I tried a new technique - I started out each exercise with my 10 pound weights and then once my muscles start to fail, I then would switch down to 8 pounds so I could push out extra reps. I feel like this gave me a better bicep work out since I was about to push my muscles farther this way. I burned about 450 calories and then went on a hike with Scott, Baxter, my cousin Andy and his pups Norm and Thurston and then burnt another 350 calories. WOAH, I am exhausted and read for a looong nap.

Friday, April 17, 2009

Day 37: Plyometrics

I did this after work today and I reeeeally pushed myself! Scott was sleeping after pulling an all-nighter last night so I had plenty of time to work out. At the end of the work out I actually created my own extra set including some of my favorite moves and burned over 500 calories. I love plyometrics - jumping around is just a fun way to burn calories!

Thursday, April 16, 2009

Day 36: Chest/Shoulders/Tris and Ab Ripper X

Well today was not a good day for me. During my first set of push ups my right shoulder AND my right elbow started making these uncomfortable clicking noises and they definitely affected my work out. I still did all of the exercises but I did not push myself like I normally do and I was upset at the end of the work out. I still burnt over 400 calories, so at least I got something out of it.

I am very concerned about the clicking and the dull achey feeling going on in my elbow and shoulder. I wonder if it is because my left side is weaker and I am putting more pressure on the right side? I just would be devastated if this turned into a problem that caused me to get off track with P90X. I do not want to take a break at all and I am worried that if this continues then I might have to. I am going to get some Glucosamine/Chondroiton tomorrow which helps promote joint health and maybe that will work.

Luckily, tomorrow is plyometrics so I will be able to give my right arm so rest. Fingers crossed that this doesn't stop me from reaching my goals....

Day 35: Kenpo X

I woke up bright and early this morning to do Kenpo X before work since I have to go sit Shiva tonight for an extended family member. I used 3 pound weights for the punching moves in order to really challenge myself and my shoulders were totally feeling it. I think I will get some weighted gloves since I liked having the additional weight but it was annoying holding on to the 3 pounders and at one point I banged one into my hip which really hurt.

My legs, butt and back are very sore from last night's work out, but after getting started I didn't even notice the pain but I am feeling it now. Tomorrow is the start of week 6 since I was behind a day this week and I hope my back is up for another work out without much rest.

Tuesday, April 14, 2009

Day 34: Legs and Back, Ab Ripper X

Tonight I did Legs and Back and Ab Ripper X and I really pushed myself hard! I burnt almost 500 calories and did every single exercise without any modifications (except for pull ups since I use the bands). I used the blue and thickest band today and I am pretty sure that my back is going to hurt tomorrow! For calf raises I needed to move up to 10 pounds to make this exercise more challenging and I love seeing my strength increase!

I definitely brought it and now I am ready to watch the Biggest Loser and go to bed!

Monday, April 13, 2009

Day 33: Yoga X

Today was Yoga X and I used my yoga block for the first time during this work out. I definitely found it very helpful and it made it more enjoyable to do the work out since I could do some of the more advanced moves with it. I burnt 275 calories during the routine and reeeeally pushed myself during the yoga belly section.

I am not even close to being able to do the warrior 3 series and at this point I just kind of hang out on one leg until it is done. I had a Muscle Milk Light again after the work out and my stomach was really hurting afterwards - I don't think my body is used to having so much protein.

Tomorrow is Legs and Back which is my favorite routine, wahooooo!

Sunday, April 12, 2009

Day 32: Back and Biceps, Ab Ripper X

Today was another new work out for me in phase 2 and it was nice switching things up a bit. I was able to keep up but my biceps are totally wasted right now and towards the end of the work out I could barely lift my 8 pounders! Hammer curls were tough considering that I never really work out my forearms so I have a feeling I am going to be feeling that tomorrow.

I kept up with ARX completely today without missing any reps for the first time - wahoo!

Today wsa my WW weigh in and I am feeling pretty sad about it because I gained a pound. I am not surprised because I slacked on my diet this week thanks to a huge Passover dinner and the Sixers game. This week I am going to stick to the plan and get back on track so that I can reach my goal.

Despite the 1 pound weight gain, I sucked it up and took my 30 day pictures. I don't think the pictures really show the increased definition in my arms but I can see that my stomach is a little flatter and more toned and my legs looked more toned too.

Day 30

Day 1

Day 31: Plyometrics X

So today I did Plyometrics X since my work out yesterday was screwed up. It has been a few weeks since I last did Plyo and I almost forgot how freaking exhausting that work out is! I kept up very well and burned a whopping 500 calories during the 58 minute work out.

I bought Muscle Milk Light today at GNC and I had it for the first time after my work out. I know that I have not been getting enough protein for how much hell I am putting my muscles through and it has 20 grams of protein and is only 3 points. I tried the vanilla creme flavor and it was ok - not great like the vanilla milkshake I was hoping for but it was not bad either.

I totally pigged out last night at the basketball game yesterday so I am going to be taking pictures tomorrow instead because I just can't bear to take them today.

Friday, April 10, 2009

Day 30: Rest

Well, today was supposed to be Plyo X but about 5 minutes into my workout Scott came running in to the living room to tell me that the Sixers v. Cavs tickets we had were tonight NOT tomorrow night like we thought it was. I had to stop my work out, throw on clothing and run out the door since the game started in 45 minutes! Needless to say there was no way that I was going to be able to get in my workout so I am going to have to use today as this weeks rest day and push my work outs back a day this week.

I was pretty upset about having to rearrange and miss my work out, but as long as I get all 6 work outs in this week then I will be fine!

Thursday, April 9, 2009

Day 29: Chest, Shoulders and Triceps, Ab Ripper X

After a week of giving my muscles a break during recovery, it felt SO good to get back into intense muscle work outs.  I was impressed with how much better I kept up with Ab Ripper X - I think after Core Synergistics, it just seemed easier :o)  V-Up Roll Ups are still the hardest for me to do correctly, but I am getting there.

I was nervous to try a brand new work out but I really liked Chest/Shoulders/Tris today and I felt like I really worked those muscles hard.  During the clapping push ups I had a little issue when I dropped myself on my head!  My arms and chest were just so tired that I could not catch myself fast enough before smacking my head on the mat - OUCH.  I really did work my chest to muscle failure because my chest/arms would literally just give out towards the end of a push up sequence.

I think I need to get some 5 pound weights for some of these exercises since 8 pounds is a little too much for me on the tricep exercises and 3 pounds is not enough.  I ended up holding both 3 pound weights in one hand for many of the tricep exercises to bridge the gap between the two different weights I had.

Tomorrow is day 30 and I will take more pictures and compare.  I am kind of nervous, though everyone who has done the program says the biggest change can be seen between phases 2 and 3.

Also, I should mention that my HRM does a summary every 7 days and I found the information to be very interesting.  During the last week (recovery week) I worked out 6 times for a total of 6 hours and 40 minutes and burned 2,363 calories!  I can only imagine what that number is going to be after a non-recovery week of exercises!

Day 28: Rest/Stretch

Tonight was the first night of Passover so I was not able to fit in Stretch X. I ate pretty badly at dinner so I am looking forward to starting Phase 2 tomorrow to get my butt into gear. My muscles over my rib cage are very sore from Core yesterday and I hope that they heal quickly since I have to do Ab Ripper X tomorrow!

Tuesday, April 7, 2009

Day 27: Core Synergistics

Core today was the last work out for my first recovery week and I am excited to get started on new and harder work outs on Thursday for Phase 2. I think Core Synergistics is the hardest of all of the P90X work outs that I have done so far. I was sweating and very out of breath during it and had trouble keeping up - it actually made me feel very out of shape since for the first time ever I needed to pause the video to lower my heart rate!

My HRM kept beeping at me throughout the work out since my HR was high but overall I burnt 424 in just under an hour, WOW!

Monday, April 6, 2009

Day 26: Yoga X

It was very hard to fit an hour and a half work out into my schedule on a work day, but I did manage to do it anyway. I think because the work out was so long and it felt like a chore to have to spend so much of my night doing it, I just was dragging. I only burned about 250 calories, which is 100 less than I did last time I did it! Oh well, starting Thursday this recovery week will be over and I will be back on a more normal work out scheudle.

Who would have thought that I would actually not enjoy and easier week?!

Sunday, April 5, 2009

Day 25: Rest/Stretch X

Today was supposed to be a rest/stretching day but after pigging out yesterday I added in Cardio X. It was the first time I did the work out and I like that it mixed in moves from every work out including Yoga, Kenpo and Plyo. I burned about 300 calories and felt like I got a good work out even though I was supposed to be resting!

Saturday, April 4, 2009

Day 24: Kenpo X

I think this is still my favorite P90X work out. Something about kicking and punching for an hour just makes me feel great. I actually had a lot of energy left over so I repeated the last 10 minutes of the work out to burn some extra calories. I ate horribly today so I am going to have to really pick it up this week and cut out the junk food.

Friday, April 3, 2009

Day 23: Core Synergistics

Well I am still feeling pretty sick today so working out was mostly likely not the smart decision- BUT I did it anyone.  I was expecting the Core Synergistics work out to be a bit easier than some of the others since it is added to the work out during the recovery week but it was HARD.  Pretty much an intense total boady work out and I was really out of breath during this one.

I had to really try to stay below my target heart rate zone and I wonder if the elevated heart rate is due to how I am feeling.  I made it through the whole work out in one piece though and then immediately went a took a nap.  I look forward to trying this work out again later in the 4th week and hopefully I will be feeling better by then.

Thursday, April 2, 2009

Day 22: Yoga X

So I stayed home sick from work today and really felt like crap but I forced myself to do yoga anyway. I turned out the lights and lit candles and incense and was actually able to relax, focus on good breathing (though breathing out of my nose just wasn't happening today) and I enjoyed the work out. Yoga is definitely growing on me!

According to my HRM I burned abotu 340 calories, which is less than last week but I wish sick and didn't want to push myself too hard. Off to get some rest - good night!

Wednesday, April 1, 2009

Day 21: Rest/Stretch

Today is the end of week 3 and I woke up with a cold which I am not happy about. I am taking Advil Cold and Sinus and Cold Eze so hopefully I will bounce back quickly so that my work outs are not affected - though this week is recovery which is good timing.

I finally did Stretch X today for the first time and it felt good to relax and stretch for an hour, though Baxter was in my face trying to get attention the whole time. When I was in downward dog he actually crawled under me on the mat and rolled over for a belly rub! It was so unbelievable cute :o)

Tuesday, March 31, 2009

Day 20: Kenpo X

Another 6:00am work out for me this morning since I am going to help my sister-in-law at Ladies Boutique Night at the synagogue tonight after work. Kenpo X is still one of my favorite work outs even though the girl in the background really bothers me for some reason...I literally spend the whole time trying not to look at her!

Surprisingly I only burnt 350 calories during this workout according to my HRM and I thought it was going to be more than that. 350 calories in an hour is not too shabby though! Tomorrow is rest/stretch X and then on to my first recovery week. I am a little sad about recovery week because I like these intense work outs, but it is there for a reason so I will go with it!

Monday, March 30, 2009

Day 19: Legs and Back, Ab Ripper X

My hamstrings were sore (from yoga I guess) going in to this work out so I knew I was about to get my butt kicked. This is my favorite work out though because every move is different and at the end my legs were TIRED! At this point my legs muscles are pretty strong and more toned than ever before so I am happy with the results. For Ab Ripper X I was finally able to do the oblique crunches while keeping my legs off of the floor for the whole time - HOORAY!

According to my heart rate monitor (I love that thing) I burned 505 calories in 1:16 minutes - can't beat that!

Sunday, March 29, 2009

Day 18: Yoga X

Today was Yoga and I actually enjoyed it, though I still think and hour and a half is too long. I wore my heart rate monitor and burned 382 calories with an average heart rate of 127 during my work out. I am actually surprised that I burnt so many calories since I was under the impression that yoga really didn't burn a lot.

Next week is recovery week and I know there are a couple of days of yoga during that week - I am not sure how I am going to fit an hour and a half work out in after work but I guess I will make it work!

Also, today was my weigh in and I am down to 119 pounds for a total of 15 pounds lost! I am only 1 pound away from my goal weight and I am SO excited to be in the 110's for the first time since high school. This change also means that I go from 19 WW points per day down to 18 and I really am going to miss that extra point - though it is worth it to get to my goal weight :o)

Saturday, March 28, 2009

Day 17: Shoulders and Arms, Ab Ripper X

I woke up early this morning and got started on my work out by 9:30am (it's Saturday, what was I thinking?!)  I used my nifty new heart rate monitor today for the first time and it was fun to see how many calories I was burning as I was working out!  I used 10 pounds for most of the exercises, even my shoulders which I started out doing with 3 pounds.  Now if I can just get rid of the layer of fat on my arms, then I will be able to show off my new muscles that are growing underneath!

Based on my HRM I burned 478 calories with a max HR of 167 and an average of 126 during my 1 hour and 19 minute work out.  Halfway through week 3 and onto yoga tomorrow.

Friday, March 27, 2009

Day 16: Plyometrics

I woke up at 6:00am again today for Plyometrics because tonight I am going to try on wedding rings and I don't want to have to do such an intense work out late at night. I was definitely sweating and very tired after I finished but it feels good to get it over with. I am still not sure if I really like working out in the morning though and it is hard to get out of bed an hour and a half earlier than I need to.

I should have my heart rate monitor waiting for my by the door when I get home and I am excited to play with it and see how many calories I burn during Shoulders and Arms and Ab Ripper X tomorrow. Unfortunately, it is supposed to be rainy all weekend so I am probably not going to get outside for any physical activity.

I am having some pain in my foot and a little concerned I might have a stress fracture or something - I am going to google it now.

Thursday, March 26, 2009

Day 15: Chest and Back, Ab Ripper X

Tonight for some reason I felt like I was going to die during this work out! I drank a lot of water and pushed my way through but it was tough. I used 10 pound weights for high pants and lawnmowers instead of the 8 pounders I used for the first 2 weeks and I was able to do over 20 girl push ups (when I started I could do about 8)!

Ab ripper was ok, but I was feeling pretty exhausted at that point so I didn't keep up with Tony and "the kids" all that well.

I ordered a heart rate monitor today and should be getting it tomorrow (gotta love Amazon) and I am looking forward to being about to track how many calories I burn so I can make sure I am eating enough activity points!

Wednesday, March 25, 2009

Day 14: Rest or Stretch X

Well, week 2 is officially complete. I was really hoping to do Stretch X today but Scott is sick and had surgery on his gum so I was taking care of him and doing laundry and just didn't have time. I am ready to start week 3 tomorrow and am really going to push myself to continue to challenge my body during each work out.

Tuesday, March 24, 2009

Day 13: Kenpo X

I just finished Kenpo X and I love that work out! Kicking and punching after a stressful day just feels so good. Also, I wasn't nearly as out of breath or sweaty as I was last week and I can definitely tell that my cardiovascular conditioning is improving.

My glutes are super sore from Legs and Back yesterday so I am going to try and really stretch them out during my rest day tomorrow.

I can't believe that 2 weeks have passed already, 90 days will be here before I know it!

Monday, March 23, 2009

Day 12: Legs and Back, Ab Ripper X

Today is my 6 year anniversary with Scott and we had dinner reservations at Buddakan tonight so I wanted to wake up early and get my work out over with for today so I could relax when we got home (even though Scott wouldn't be able to hang out and had to do homework). Unfortunately my alarm didn't go off so I didn't have time for legs and Back, but Baxter woke me up at 7:00am so I squeezed in the Ab Ripper before getting ready for work.

I ate very poorly at dinner, but it was worth it since we were celebrating and then came home and did Legs and Back after dinner. It was hard to start working out a 9:00pm on a full stomach but I did it anyway and got a good workout in despite the circumstances. I am hoping that the banana tower dessert that I devoured won't set me back on my weight loss!

Day 11: Yoga X

I was dreading Yoga X when I woke up this morning since I did not really enjoy it last week, but I rolled out of bed, ate a snack and got started. It was actually much better last week, maybe because I was able to relax a bit more and not feel rushed through it since I didn't have anything to do immediately afterwards like last week. It did feel good stretching, especially since my arms are KILLING me today. OUCH - those 10 pound weights really worked yesterday!

Today was my Weight Watchers weigh-in and I am down 1 pound from last Sunday - 121.2lbs. Slowly but surely the number is creeping down :o)

Tomorrow is Legs and Back and Ab Ripper X but I am going to have to do it bright and early tomorrow morning before work since tomorrow is my 6 year anniversary with Scott and we are going to Buddakan for dinner to celebrate! YAY!

Day 10: Shoulders and Arms, Ab Ripper X

Today I really pushed myself during shoulders and arms, thanks to my new 10 pound weights. After finishing up, I felt great but my arms feel very weak and shaky now. I am pretty sure that I am not going to be able to move my arms tomorrow!

I did Ab Ripper before my arms work out and I was able to keep up pretty well...a little bit better each time I do it!

Day 9: Plyometrics

So I decided to wake up at 6:00am this morning and do plyo before work. I do not normally work out that early in the morning and now I remember why - it is torture! I wanted to have the whole evening free to hang out with Scott though since he has been so busy with schoolwork at night this week so it was worth it.

I did not find this weeks plyo to be any easier for me today than last weeks and my back, lower abs and chest are pretty sore from last nights workout. I am going to get some heavier weights today so that I am ready for arms and shoulders tomorrow - bring it!

Day 8: Chest and Back, Ab Ripper X

After my day off yesterday I was ready to bring it today! I upped the difficulty of my modified pull ups by switching to the green band, which made this work out much harder. I was able to do way more push ups than I could last week so I can already see the progress there. I really pushed myself and now my muscles are shaking as I am sitting here typing, ouch!

Ab Ripper X was especially hard for me today after how hard I worked during chest and back...I think some times I will do it first, before the hour-long workout, so that I am fresh and can give it more energy. Time to eat a protein bar, shower and pass out!

Day 7: Rest!

Well, I made it through my first week of P90X! Today is rest day or you can do Stretch X, but I have to assemble my save the dates tonight so I am not going to have time to stretch most likely. I am definitely proud of myself for how hard I have worked this week and I am totally obsessed with P90X. I know some people think Tony Horton is annoying but I actually really like him and find him very motivating.

I feel great and thinner than ever (even after only 1 week), but I must say that my legs are incredibly sore today - probably more sore than they have ever been. I had to do a little side shuffle up the steps because my hamstrings and glutes are so sore! Hopefully it will begin to subside by tomorrow because I feel silly walking funny.

Day 6: Kenpo X

Just finished an hour of Kenpo and I loved it! I was actually in a bad mood when I started because I had to stay late at work and all of the punches and kicks really helped me to get out some aggression. I am pretty gross and sweaty right now so I know I had a good cardiovascular workout! Scott is amazed at my dedication and endurance which motivates me even more to push myself as hard as possible.

Tomorrow is a rest day which I need because my legs are very sore from yesterday!

Day 5: Legs and Back, Ab Ripper X

I could not wait to get home from work today to do P90X and I had so much energy all day. I really am enjoy this work out and I feel great after only 5 days!

Legs and back was tonight and this workout was extremely challenging. My legs are still shaking and during the wall squats I almost collapsed! Scott sat and watched me work out/did homework so I think having an audience made me push myself even farther!

Kenpo X is tomorrow and then I will have completed all of the workouts for week 1. I think I might have convinced my friend Jay to start P90X today so it will be cool to have someone I know doing it too.

Day 4: Yoga X

I completed Yoga X this morning and I thought it was way too long - an hour and a half! I prefer higher impact work outs but I sucked it up and did it anyway.

Baxter loved the yoga mat and kept licking it and trying to lay on it while I was working out which made things more complicated! At one point he actually crawled under me during downward dog and laid down on the mat so I had to kind of fall out of the position sideways so I would not crush him.
I am pretty much sore all over today but made it out for a hike after yoga and I am ready for legs and back tomorrow.
Today was my WW weigh-in day and I am down to 122.2! Thats a loss of 11.8 pounds total since I started WW 7 weeks ago.

Day 3: Arms and Shoulders, Abs X

Just finished an hour of intense arm and shoulder exercises and my arms feel like jello. I had to reeeeally push myself today, especially since my triceps are still sore from all of the push ups I did on day 1. Oh well, I made it through and I am sure my shoulders and biceps will be sore later too.

Today my back, lower abs, calves, chest, glutes and hamstrings are sore....so pretty much my entire but hurts right now - but in a good way because it lets me know how hard I am working.

Day 2: Plyometrics

Wow, I just finished an hour of plyometrics (jump training) and I am exhausted. That was so much harder than I was expecting, but I made it all the way through without stopping at all! At one point I did think so myself that I might die, but here I am still breathing so all is well. What a great work out though.

Today my lower abs, back, check and triceps all are very sore from yesterday's work out. I am sure that I will be adding to this list tomorrow after jumping around for an hour.

Day 1: Chest and Back, Ab Ripper X

Last night was my very first P90X workout. I am doing the classic program which means that my first day was Chest and Back and Ab Ripper X. There were a ton of push ups (some of which I needed to do on the wall) and a million pull ups too. We really need to get a pull up bar, but I used a band over the door instead.

It was very hard but I am proud to say that I completed the workout without too much trouble in the chest and back department. I had a VERY difficult time getting even close to finishing Ab Ripper X though so that will take some work.

Even with doing modified push ups and pull ups, I obviously got a great work out because I am super duper sore today. I am happy that I am sore though because it means that I did a good job working out my muscles!

Plyometrics is tonight and I am excited to try it. My dog Baxter goes crazy and gets very hyper whenever anyone jumps near him so this should be interesting...

Welcome to my P90X, pre-wedding journey

Hi everyone! Thank you so much for visiting my brand spanking new P90X blog. I created this blog in the hopes that it will help to keep me more accountable so that I will stick with the program.

At this point I am still doing Weight Watchers and I am in the middle of my 6th week on the plan and have lost 10 pounds. I hope that P90X will now help me to tone up and build muscle AND burn fat so that I will be in great shape and look amazing at my wedding.

Anyway, Scott bought me P90X as an anniversary present (6 years, wahoo!) and it came in the mail yesterday! As soon as I got home from work I tore it open and began reading the book and watching the intro video so that I could get started right away.

As of Day 1 I am 124 pounds and 18% body fat - not bad (thanks Weight Watchers!)
